Occasionally, the ghostly head of Nemesis shoots an array of purple bullets. To dodge these, run all the way to either side of the arena and once you are nearing the edge, dash in the other direction, and keep moving. The main attack Nemesis does is a volley of orange bullets. These are the attacks you need to look out for in phase one: Image: Housemarque/Sony Interactive Entertainment via Polygon The main boss shoots bullets while its two minions fire sweeping lasers across the rectangular battlefield. Nemesis phase oneĭuring the first phase, Nemesis and its minions do basic versions of their attacks. Let’s go through each phase of its attacks one by one. Despite the size of your opponent and the numerous companions it has, Nemesis only has one area where it takes damage: a big red spot in the center of its body.Īs long as you understand each of its attacks, you can defeat Nemesis. Multiple floating monsters that shoot lasers also assist the boss. Nemesis floats in the distance shooting bullets throughout the entire fight. When you enter the boss chamber, your character passes out and wakes up in a dreamlike arena. Once you reach the top of the tower, you’ll find Datacube Processor and an Obolite Repository before a pathway toward the boss. Heading toward this objective brings you to a tower filled with laser traps and multiple enemies. To find Nemesis, follow your objective marker to the red door with triangles that appears at the end of your map. We’ll explain its moves and how to dodge them, and we’ll detail the attacks it uses in all three of its phases. In this Returnal boss guide, we’ll show you how to defeat Nemesis. Defeating it requires knowledge of its large-scale attacks and what it does in all three phases of its fight. If you’ve got the health to tank it and you can get this pattern down the last phase becomes easy.Returnal’s third boss, Nemesis, is a massive creature flanked by minions, all of whom you face at the end of the Derelict Citadel. What you want to do is hop first and then dash to get away from the wave and the attack. This isn’t too much of a problem in itself as you can easily dash from it, but every time Ixion commits a dash they also summon a red floor wave. Here’s where things get really frantic though - Ixion will then pull out a blade and start dashing and slashing at Selene. Keep your focus on the blue wave and keep dodging in and out of the projectiles. In Phase 3, Ixion will return to his blue state but also start firing projectiles from above. Dodge, but be careful where you’re going when you do. Ixion will then start firing a blue beam much like Phrike, but will complement this attack with tiny homing projectiles. Ixion’s projectiles will become very difficult to avoid here, at which point you want to try and dash through them. This part is tough, but if you stay still until they come flying in, you’ll have a better chance of understanding the attack and dodging it. After a short period Ixion will return, but this time they’ll start dashing through the arena. You want to maneuver yourself to his front too so you can do the most damage possible to Ixion’s head. Head to the outer rim of the circle and focus on leaping over the blue waves. At this point, the whole boss fight will change. In Phase 2, Ixion will then smash into the ground and power up their tentacled arm. They’ll dash and shoot out blue projectiles, and you should use the entire arena to your advantage to beat him, circling the outer rim so there is more space to dodge. As long as you’re constantly moving, Ixion can’t really do much to the player in the first phase.
